Michael Yon In The Wall Street Journal

I was ready to post today when I learned that Jimeh Cahtah was going to meet with Hamas. Abandoned on the visit by the Secretary General of the United Nations and other officials because he unilaterally decided to meet with a terrorist organization, our well-intentioned buffoon will achieve just as much as he did as president - diddly.

I was also concerned about the announcement from Iran that they are building 6,000 more centrifuges in addition to the 3,000 that are already in operation. The concern deepens when you consider the prospect of a president that's ready to follow in Jimeh's footsteps. If you don't know who that is, you are among the millions of Americans who either don't bother to vote, or vote with a minimum of information. Regardless of what side of the aisle you find yourself on, the astounding numbers of people that don't vote is puzzling.

What I found the most enlightening was Michael Yon's editorial in the Wall Street Journal - the link is in the title of this piece. I can't say it any better than he did, so I'm not even going to try. If you're interested in the opinion of an independent journalist who's spent more time in Iraq than any other correspondent, read his article.

For my friends who will find fault with Mr. Yon, please feel free to explain where he's wrong. Since most of us have never been to Iraq to see precisely what's going on, it should be interesting to see what our liberal arm-chair quarterbacks have to say. I'm an arm-chair quarterback as well, I just play on a different team.

Yessir, success is just around the corner. We've only been told that every six months since 2003. But hell, who cares, it's not like you and I are the ones doing the sacrificing.

That's right, most of us have not been in Iraq. Ever hear of TV though? Why isn't there the video coverage of Iraq that we saw during Vietnam?

Apparently big happy al doesn't have a television set. Or the internet. Or is Al looking for the Montanyards and VC oh and the lush Iraqi jungles.
hopefuly success will come after McCain becomes president, cry's havoc and lets slip the dogs of war.
As I ponder the good things said in the Yon op-ed I can envision liberals with their fingers in there ears saying "i Can't hear you, I can't hear you"

BGA-there was plenty of media coverage when things were going bad, but now that progress is being made and there are fewer bodies to show on the nightly news, our beloved liberal media has no interest in showing what has been achieved. I did note one exception the other night on NBC when they did a piece on the first leg amputee to ever return to a combat zone. Sgt. Spanky Gibson represents the best that America has. People like Sgt. Gibson are the reason we can succeed - people like Jimeh Cahtah are the reason we can fail.

So what about the great truth teller Fox News? I hear they spend less time on Iraq than any other network. Now that things are so great in Iraq, why aren't we seeing all the tourists having a grand ol time in Bagdad?

I just wish someone could explain how many more moments of truth we must stand at before we can leave Iraq. It's been 5 years of "moments of truth".

Jeez, BGA, Ollie North and Geraldo have spent more time in Iraq in the last 4 years than all the other networks combined. Don't you get cable up there?
