Why Can't We Debate?

Once again House Leader Nancy Pelosi has shown why she will be remembered not only as the first female Speaker of the House, but also as one of the most ineffective Speakers in modern times. Together with the rest of her cohorts, such as the sempiternal Senator Byrd, the Democrats are doing their best to make sure that the subject of off shore drilling is not debated or considered. I don't find myself in agreement with The Washington Post on many occasions, but this is one of them. What is it that Speaker Pelosi would rather do?

She'd rather draw down our strategic oil reserves than even debate the efficacy of off shore drilling. Remember what happened to the price of a barrel or oil when the President announced he was lifting the ban? The largest one day drop in the price of a barrel of oil ever! Of course this is the same person who thinks income redistribution should be the goal of government, so a reality check is completely lost on her.

As Norm once opined to Cliff at "Cheers": "What is the color of the sky in your world Cliffy?" Seems like a suitable question for both Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid.

As a representative for the state that would feel the greatest impact of opening up ANWR and off shore drilling, he's a lot more aware of just how long it would take to get the oil pumping to the lower 48. This paranoia regarding ANWR is reminiscent of that which surrounded the Alaskan pipe line, which was supposed to harm the caribou, polar bears and other denizens of Alaska's wilderness - all of which proved to be groundless.

As T. Boone Pickens states, this is a crisis that we can't drill our way out of. We need to use every form of energy available to us, including oil, coal and nuclear, if we are going to place ourselves in a position where the likes of Hugo Chavez or Ahmadinejad can't threaten our security by stopping oil shipments.

The fact that Speaker Pelosi won't even allow debate on the issue should serve as a wake up call for America. What is the majority party afraid of? Why do they disregard the fact that the majority of Americans want off shore drilling resumed and exploration of ANWR to begin?

Politics, pure and simple. Just the same as Obama saying that the surge was not the reason for the great strides made Iraq. I'm sure the troops were most appreciative of his insights.

Many political analysts are predicting a huge victory for the Dem's in November. Even the Dem's themselves figure they'll not only capture the White House, but also increase their majorities in both Houses of Congress.

As Gov. Dewey found out in the 50's - don't count your chickens before they're hatched. If Obama continues to flip-flop, and our Congressional Dem's continue to ignore the will of the people on energy, immigration, and the war on terror, we just might see some really unexpected results come November.

If you remove the Bin Laden name and read just the second paragraph, you could attribute that statement to Lenin, Stalin, and millions of Americans who subscribe to European style socialism and/or communism. It seems Bin Laden has taken a page out of the communist handbook, a page from the Democrat's political playbook, mixed them together rapidly, and viola: a little class warfare along with his proselytizing for Islam.


Our fellow citizens who would prefer to just pull up stakes and get out of Iraq as quickly as they can are not performing up to Mr. Bin Laden's expectations either:

He's mad because the Dems have been unable to pull the plug, even though they control both houses of Congress. It would seem that there are times when gridlock serves a very useful purpose.


My fellow liberal Americans, how does it feel to be doing the bidding of Osama? I know you're not doing it intentionally, but you're playing on his side nonetheless. It would appear that he feels Iraq is a center of the War on Terrorism, contrary to what the Boobsey Twins: Reid & Durbin think. Listening to the two of them bloviate yesterday was incredibly disheartening. Whining that since the President stopped in Iraq, General Petraeus's report will only be what Bush allows (Reid), or whining that the surge is an obvious failure (Durbin), these two have probably done more to benefit the Republican Party than anyone else. If you needed any further evidence that politics, not the welfare of the nation, is their primary focus, yesterdays remarks should have sealed the deal for you. Not to mention the fact that Dirty Harry's idiotic statement basically asserts that General Petraeus is not an honest man, capable of speaking his own mind - only a toadie for GWB. If I were the General, I think I'd demand an apology from Reid and then knock him on his ass if he failed to apologize immediately. I don't subscribe to violence as a remedy in many situations, but if you insult my integrity and honesty with absolutely no proof of same, a shot to offending aperture is not necessarily unwarranted.


"If ...General Pratraeus is allowed to give his report, I'll bet a dollar to a hole in a donut that they'll reject the report out of hand, regardless of the facts on the ground. If you don't believe that, you don't know a real politician."

That quote comes from the Nostradamus of Watson - yours truly, from my blog of Wednesday, July 11th. I never did receive any takers on the bet - go figure. The rejection of the report has already begun, politics reigns supreme as usual, and the American soldier continues to represent the heart of America, while some of it's politicians continue to represent the end of the alimentary canal.

Tokyo Nancy - Senator Rodham & Friends

I received the following in an e-mail from a friend of mine in Florida:

Anyone who remembers anything about World War II, or has studied anything about World War II, will understand and remember that during World War II, the Japanese developed a way to demoralize the American forces. The Japanese psychological warfare experts developed a message they felt would work.

They gave their psychological warfare script to their famous broadcaster "Tokyo Rose" and every day she would broadcast this same message packaged in different ways, hoping it would have a negative impact on American GI's morale. What was that demoralizing message?

It had three main points:

1. Your President is lying to you.
2. This war is illegal.
3. You cannot win the war

Does this sound familiar?

etc. have all learned from the former enemies of our country and have picked up the same message and are broadcasting it on:

Tokyo CBS, Katie Couric
Tokyo NBC, Brian Williams / Tim Russert
etc., to our troops

The only difference is that they claim to support our troops before they try to demoralize them.

Come to think of it... Tokyo Rose told the American troops she was on their side, also.

Over the top? It sure is, but once you get past the bombast, you'll find an element of truth that is undeniable: If you want to assure that your efforts to undermine your country succeed, just follow the simple formula:

1. Your President is lying to you.
2. This war is illegal.
3. You cannot win the war

Sound familiar? If not, do a little research on the Democratic Congress that abandoned the Vietnamese and led to that famous photo of the chopper leaving the top of our embassy in Saigon. If there is one thing that all politicians have learned, it is this: Even if you're telling a lie, if you repeat it often enough, it becomes the truth in the minds of the uniformed masses (UM's).

Speaking of the UM's, I found it interesting that when addressing the burning issue of our time (Harry Reid - Iraq War, etc.), in the Journal & Republican and the Watertown Times, my letter regarding Harry Reid generated a total of 2 responses. One, from the parents of a soldier killed in Iraq, calling the war there immoral, and a responder from Carthage, who stated I had my facts wrong, and suggested that diplomacy and negotiation were the means by which we could resolve the Islamo-facist-terrorist (IFT's) situation.

Other than to thank them for the service of their son to our nation, I will not argue with the parents of someone who's child has died in Iraq. Having just lost a child myself, I understand all too well the pain they feel, and if they think the war is immoral, they are certainly entitled to their opinion - just like Cindy Sheehan is.

I will, however, take issue with the respondent from Carthage. You must be incredibly naive or incredibly stupid to think you can negotiate with IFT's. What don't you understand about their desire to convert or kill us? Point out the nation that we're supposed to negotiate with to disarm Al Quaida - what government do we ply our diplomacy on? If you'd like to wait until the United Nations does something about it, you might just as well put in your order for a turban right now.

One of the most popular concepts on the left, albeit idiotic, is that it is a civil war in Iraq, pure and simple, and we should leave.

Let's see - if I'm Al Quaida and I want to create a situation where all the whiny Americans have something to whine about, what do I do? I don't know, maybe blow up cars loaded with explosives, maybe even have a couple of children in the back to divert suspicion. Our intelligence reports indicate that the vast majority of these suicide bombers are from OUTSIDE of Iraq - not Iraqis! Even if the reverse were true, does that mean we should abandon a country struggling to find a democratic formula that works for them?

The blatant stupidity of the left is matched only by their innate duplicity. If it were Slick Willie sending the troops into Iraq, the Dem's would be 100% behind the effort. Here's the difference - most of the Republicans would be behind it as well. We didn't have UN approval to start bombing in the Baltics (immoral?), but for once in his life, President Bubba did something right and took action. Yes, I just praised Bill Clinton - don't get too used to it.

Now we have our beloved Senator Rodham proposing to rescind the congressional approval for the effort in Iraq. Is there nothing that this woman won't do to get elected? Every decision that woman has ever made, has been made with only one thought in mind: Will this help me to become President? From the moment she started screwing up a National Health Care Plan, anyone with eyes could see what her ultimate goal was. She may not be a "Stand By Your Man" kind of woman, but if it meant she would be elected President, she'd let Bubba wrestle naked, on live TV, in a bowl of steaming hot goulash with the Hungarian women's volleyball team.

The bottom line is quite simple - if you're a Rodham-ista, a Murtha-ite, or a Hemor-Reid (supposed to be a play on "hemorrhoid", but if you have to explain them, ...) you are a member of a group of people who, while claiming patriotism, are doing exactly what our enemy would like you to do - quit.

I'm sure there are those, like Margaret Chase Smith (the only vote against war with Japan after the Pearl Harbor attack), who will never think anything is worth going to war for - and that's fine - as long as you don't mind being a slave.

Harry Reid - A Man for all Treasons

Senator Harry Reid is a wonderful example of what the liberals in this country would have us all become. Please note, I did not say "Democrats", because I sincerely believe that there are Democrats out there who still have a backbone; but the Joe Libermans' are few and far between in the party.

Just for a moment, let's go back to WWII. Can you imagine a Senate Majority Leader saying the war is lost; trying to cut funding for the troops and offering our enemies a time line for when we plan to tuck our tail between our legs and run? I guess Webster's is going to have to rethink their definition of the word "treason". Personally, I think the definition should stay the same and we should place Senator Reid's name right alongside another great American's: Benedict Arnold.

Those who say that the Democrats want to see us defeated in Iraq are way off the mark. We are all Americans and no one wants to see us defeated. Don't misunderstand - they don't want to see us defeated - they want to see George Bush defeated and the Democrats back in total control. If it means that we desert people struggling to form a democratic government; if that means that terrorists around the world can count on the fact that the United States will not stand by it's friends and allies; if the cause of freedom is relegated to the dreams of the few; if Iraq becomes Iran's private terrorist training camp; that's a small price to pay for Democrats to be in power. The party comes before the country - a sad commentary on the party that once had men like Harry Truman and Jack Kennedy leading it. They were men, not the spineless dish rags like Harry Reid and Dick Durbin.

What are the Democrats for? You pretty much know what they're against: free speech (unless you're spouting their party line), freedom of ideas (unless it meets their criteria that the United States is the root of evil in the world), the right to bear arms (they can control us with less effort if we can't fight back), protecting the lives of the unborn (it's just a clump of cells, it doesn't have a soul because their is no God) - I could go on, but the point is quite simple: They don't stand for much of anything - they just stand against whatever the President is for.

The two young men from Lewis County who gave their lives have been disgraced and diminished by the words of Senator Reid, and that is the greatest crime of all. I try to force myself to always consider the opposing point of view and remember that the person who holds that view is, first and foremost, a child of God; secondly, they are Americans who love their country (for the most part), and they are entitled to their point of view and the freedom to express it. Senator Reid has gone way beyond that.

It gives one pause when you consider that Don Imus was fired for cracking a tasteless joke using language that you can hear everyday on any rap/hip-hop radio station, yet the Senate Majority leader preaches defeatism and treason and the party lemmings are ready to eagerly follow him right off the cliff.

There are positive aspects to all of this liberal lunacy, you just have to look for that silver lining:

1.) The French will love us again and Jerry Lewis will be elected President of France.

2.) Alec Baldwin will become Secretary of State and leave screaming phone messages for world leaders instead of his 11 year old daughter.

3.) Rosie O'Donnell will become Secretary of Stupidity and get her own TV show on CNN - Streisand is ready to step in when Rosie eventually goes to rehab for her Twinkie addiction.

4.) Charlie Sheen and Sean Penn will be Co-Secretary's of Paranoia and Conspiracy, and they will eventually prove that 9-11 was a gigantic hoax created by Charlton Heston and the NRA.

5.) Cindy Sheehan and the Rev. Al Sharpton, posing as Tweedle-Dum and Tweedle-Dee, will become Ambassadors to Venezuela and Russia respectively. Cindy gets Venezuela because she already thinks Hugo Chavez is the person inside the Barney costume, and the Rev. Al gets Russia because they shoot people over their who run their mouths off and even the Democrats don't much care what happens to Al as long as he's out of the country.

6.) Al-Gore will become Secretary for the Environment, creating a "carbon-credits" program that will rival any previous attempts at boondooggling (I'm not sure if that's a word, but it should be). Based upon Al-Gore's philosophy of "do as I say, not as I do", lights will go out around the world sometime around 2012. As all governments fail and anarchy reigns, the law of the jungle will prevail and all liberals will be shot on sight or sentenced as indentured servants for Rush Limbaugh and Karl Rove.

See, I told you there was a silver lining.
